Creating Digital Sign Identifiers

In this article, users will be using dictionary to add digital sign identifiers.

Digital Sign Identifiers are used to identify each individual digital sign in the environment, it is done this way to allow flexibility in the naming convention.

In order for users to add Digital Sign Identifiers, they are required to create dictionary items beforehand.

Use Dictionary to add all your Digital Sign Identifiers by adding them in their own Dictionary Category.

With 5 types of digital signs in the environment, you may have separate codes and numbers to identify them:

  1. For an Interactive Kiosk you could have IK 001

  2. For a Pedestrian Digital Direction Sign you could have DDS-P 001

  3. For a Vehicular Digital Direction Sign you could have DDS-V 001

  4. For a QR Code print you could have QR 001 

  5. For a Parking Sign you could have DP 001

A user needs to create a Destination Dictionary for EACH Digital Sign Identifiers they wish to have.

For example, if there were 4 Interactive Kiosks you would have 4 Destination Dictionary Items:
Interactive Kiosk IK.001
Interactive Kiosk IK.002
Interactive Kiosk IK.003
Interactive Kiosk IK.004

Creating a dictionary category

All types of digital sign identifiers will use the same dictionary category

Steps

The user will need to create a category before creating destination dictionaries.

1. On the PAM Navigation menu go to Dictionary > Categories

2. Click on [+ ADD CATEGORY] > Destination

3. Fill in the CODE in Identifier, e.g. Signs

4. Fill in the Description, e.g. Dictionary Sign Identifiers

5. Save changes

Creating a new destination dictionary

A user needs to create a Destination Dictionary for EACH Digital Sign Identifier they require.
Normally the sign would have an identifier.

Steps

1. On the PAM navigation board, go to Dictionary > Destination Dictionary

2. Click on [+ NEW DICTIONARY ITEM]

3. Fill in Display Copy: If this is your first interactive kiosk, name it 'Interactive Kiosk IK 001'

4. Fill in Dictionary Category as SIGNS Digital Signs Identifiers (this was explained above)

5. User can activate 'Unique destination'. If enabled, it allows a user to assign the dictionary item to 1 location only

6. Enable 'Available to navigation maps'. If enabled, this will enable a user to assign the location to a digital sign

7. Option to enable Hide from search. If enabled, this will disable the Digital Sign from being searchable

8. Save changes
