Landscape mode for Kiosk

In this article, we will show you a landscape version of the Interactive Kiosk.

Please be reminded, that all settings for landscape mode is configurable through normal Interactive Kiosk settings. This means anything you adjust for your Interactive Kiosk (i.e. replace the screensaver image), will be reflected inside landscape mode. The only difference between the two is a vertical (Interactive Kiosk) and horizontal view (Landscape mode) of the content.

Introduction to the Landscape Kiosk

Having the landscape mode option provides increased flexibility and acts as another option to present the contents of your kiosk in a different way.

If you possess a TV screen, tablet device or a wide-screen monitor then landscape mode is perfect for this.

An example of landscape mode can be seen below:

This is the screensaver mode page. Instead of everything being vertical, it has been adjusted to be landscape.

Once you arrive in landscape mode, you will be met with this page. (If screensaver mode is already activated on Kiosk, you’ll see this appear automatically)

  1. Logo

  2. Time

  3. Welcome image

  4. Call to Action image (this is the default one shown)

  5. QR Code

  6. Call to action prompt text

  7. Pulsing cursor

  8. QR Code prompt text

You can also remove the welcome image and keep Call to Action image and QR code

At a minimum, if you choose not to have a welcome image, a QR code or your own Call to Action image then it will use the default Call to Action template. The default Call to Action template is unremovable as you need a visual cue to welcome users into Landscape mode

How to activate Landscape Kiosk

Steps

Please follow this method closely as this is the only way you can activate landscape mode.

1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs

2. Select DIGITAL SIGN MAP tab

3. Use the filters / search / click on the map for an Interactive Kiosk Digital Sign.
The settings on the right-hand side will pop up.

4. Screen Orientation: You can choose whether to have this Interactive Kiosk seen as portrait or landscape mode. The default orientation is portrait. Click on the dropdown to change the orientation to landscape.

When landscape orientation is selected, DSM preview changes to landscape mode.

Majority of the settings for landscape mode are the same settings you see when portrait mode is selected. Landscape mode removes most of the header component fields so this means you cannot have any directional or messaging slot content activated when this orientation is selected.

To understand the settings for an Interactive Kiosk sign, please click here

Header component

5. Show Client Logo: This lets you activate the logo of the client inside landscape mode.

6. Show Clock: This lets you activate the clock inside landscape mode.

Map Configuration

7. Map display centre: This lets you select a point in the map that acts as the centre. This means that when Landscape mode is loaded up, the first place the user is loaded into is the area you have chosen which will override the original map centre location that has been set by default.

8. Default map style: You can choose to have either light or dark map mode as the default

9. Map display heads-up rotation: This is used to rotate the display heads up view.
Rotation is automatically set by the rotation of the sign and is recommended not to be changed. (i.e. 85 in the photo can remain as 85)

10. Default pitch: This lets you change the default view when the Interactive Kiosk is loaded up.
Maximum pitch is 60 which is a bird’s eye view at an angle. Having a pitch of 0 will mean your view looks like a normal bird’s eye view

11. Save changes

12. Click into the link underneath SIGN ID, to open a new tab and get into landscape mode.

Using the different fields in Landscape Mode

We will show you the result of how different tabs look like as you click to access it.

9d. The colour icon lets you switch from light to dark map mode

How to make changes to Landscape mode

When making changes for landscape mode. We need to remember that Landscape mode and Interactive Kiosk (when portrait orientation is selected) share the same configuration settings. This means any changes done for the Interactive Kiosk will also appear in Landscape mode.

As an example, if we edit an Experience name (Shang-Chi) into Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Making this change inside Experiences will apply to both areas.

The photos below show this example

As we can see, the name has successfully been changed into Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on both layout types.
