Adding Digital Signs to Map Editor

In this article, you will be shown how to add Digital Signs into Map Editor and view them on Digital Sign Manager.


To proceed with this article, users are expected to already have:

  • A fully drawn eXplorer Map

  • An understanding of where to locate the signs

  • Dictionary category for Digital Sign Identifiers

  • Destination dictionary, such as Interactive Kiosk IK 001

  • Explorer Map drawn

This method applies to all types of Digital Sign Identifiers.


How to add Digital Signs

Steps

1. On the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Map Editor

2. Click on the Digital sign under Feature Tools


3. Choose a spot on the map to place your digital sign


When the digital sign has been placed, click on it so the right-hand side properties section will appear.

4. Enable Double sided if you want the kiosk to be double-sided

5. Apply the Dictionary Item for the digital sign

6. Label sort index: This setting is influenced by the prominence override that has been set inside the dictionary item you have linked to this sign. (i.e. Parking Lot) You can manually adjust this too.
The higher the number, the smaller your label will become on the Interactive Kiosk / Explorer map

7. Rotation is used to adjust the angle of the sign to face the right direction

8. Keep label display as None or neither so the label name of your digital sign won’t appear on the map

9. Enable Locked to lock your Interactive Kiosk at that location

10. Save changes


We will now choose a sign layout for the digital sign

11. On the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs

12. Select Digital Sign Map tab

13. Search for the Digital sign identifier you created in Map Editor and click on it when located.
An easy way to search for it is by typing in the name of the dictionary item you linked the sign to while using Map Editor (i.e. Parking Lot)

14. Click the Layout drop-down option and select a sign layout to activate

15. Save changes

HINT: Please remember to always save changes no matter how small AND if other pages are opened in different tabs, you must refresh them for the changes to be seen.

For example, in this article, the user may have Map Editor and Digital Signs opened in different tabs. When changes to Map Editor have been saved, the Digital Signs tab needs to be refreshed to see the new changes.
