Explorer - Configuring location photo and names
In this article, we will be showing you a feature inside the Directory tab that will show location names and also allow it to be customised e.g. adding a photo as a background.
The purpose of having different location names in Explorer is for the convenience of the customer to choose a specific location (i.e. Retail District) and only the tenants that are located inside that specific location (i.e. Retail District) will pop up in the results.
Opening Explorer to view the locations that contain your tenants
Steps
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs
2. Select Digital Sign Map tab
3. Choose an Interactive Kiosk digital sign (i.e. They usually start with P 4.2)
4. On the right-hand side, scroll down and scan the QR Code with your smartphone device
5. Open up Explorer on your smartphone device and click on the Directory tab
6. Underneath the EXPLORE section, you will see location names at the bottom (you can swipe left to reveal more locations if you have them there)
Depending on your prior settings, you may have the incorrect location names or none at all. We will address this in the following sections.
7. We have clicked on Theater and only the tenants that are located in the Theater are showing
8. An easy way to confirm this is to always look at the top title section and the location name will also appear
9. We have changed locations and clicked on The Promenade
10. The tenants have changed and the top title section now shows a different location name
11. This is the default location design. Grey background will be applied if you don’t upload your own
Adding a background photo to your location name
Behind the location names, there is a background photo allocated to it, as shown below
To configure them, we have to understand that these location names are also known as Dictionary Item names. This means that your locations are to be created as Dictionary Items to have them appear.
We will walk you through our Theater location name as an example.
Steps
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to Dictionary > Destination Dictionary
2. We will find our dictionary item either by typing in Theater in the search bar or scrolling down to find it

3. Upon clicking it, scroll down and you will see the IMAGE section
4. We have the PAM logo uploaded as the photo for this dictionary item. This is the same photo that you have seen in Explorer. Please remember that the image size required is 1920 x 1280 px and it automatically adjusts the photo for you in Explorer
5. Click [CLEAR] to remove the photo as we will now change the photo to something else
6. Select [UPLOAD] to load another photo
7. Save changes
8. Go back to Explorer and click on the Directory tab
9. Now you can see that the Theater location name has a new photo

Creating Destination Dictionary items

Linking tenants to a location and view them on the Interactive Kiosk
We will be adding “Stadium Precinct” as one of our locations to be shown in Explorer.
Steps
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Map Editor
2. We will be finding ‘Stadium Precinct’. We will find it through the search section
3. We will click on it to see more settings appear on the right-hand side
4. We will enable Content Source. This means that if this is activated, it will show all tenants that are inside the perimeter of Stadium Precinct when Explorer is being used as well as on the Interactive Kiosk
5. We recommend also enabling Display as boundary as this shows you an outline of how much area the location covers. We have drawn an outline on how big the boundary is in black
6. Since ‘Stadium Precinct’ is an AREA feature type, it needs to have LEVEL feature types as children linked to it. This is crucial as tenants are UNIT feature types and can only be linked with LEVEL feature types hence why we need this link
7. Save changes
Go back to Explorer and refresh the page.
8. Click on the Directory tab
9. 'Stadium Precinct’ should now be there. We had added a background photo of a pizza prior to this hence why it is showing the pizza photo
10. We can also see the tenants that have been linked to this location. This is where it is important to establish the children link in Map Editor. Please read Step 6 again if you cannot make your tenants appear, as well as this article here
11. The location is confirmed to be the correct one by looking at the top title card
