Adding map features and applying map properties

In this article, users will be shown how to draw map features using feature-type drawing tools and apply map properties in Map Editor.

Draw Map Features Using Feature-Type Drawing Tools

Steps

1. Go to 360 Planner > Map Editor

2. Select and use a feature-type drawing tool that is suitable to your type of location
i.e. Select Feature-Type Buildings > Building to draw buildings

If you select Feature-Type Levels > Parking:

  • It will enable a user to control the parking status, availability and rates in Parking Manager. Click here to find out how.

  • Can be assigned to a Parking Lot Sign. Click here to find out how.

3. Start drawing and trace your location

4. There is the default properties section on the right hand side. This is where users can set properties for different feature types

4. There are 3 ways to complete your drawing once drawn:

  • Recommended way: Press enter/return on your keyboard and it will automatically let you adjust the properties

  • Double-click on your mouse

  • By connecting it back to the first starting point of the drawing

Apply Map Properties

Steps

1. Select your drawing on the map. You will need to click on it to see the changes.

2. Set the Type that is suitable to your type of location (i.e. if its a building, choose building)

3. Apply Dictionary Item for the location

4. Choose Label Display: none/text/icon only/both text & icon (the choice selected here will be reflected on the Interactive Kiosk / Explorer map)

5. Select Children (location) within the location if there are any. By selecting children, you are creating location hierarchy. Learn more about location hierarchy here

6. Override Extrude is used to extrude the height of the location. Activate Override Extrude and set the height of the location in metres. As a guide, 3 metres is usually a 1 story building

7. Start Extrude Height is ideally only used for building bridges between 2 buildings (e.g. if you set Start Extrude Height as 2 metres, your building will hover 2 metres above the ground)

8. Hidden (disabled) is used to hide this location from the Map

9. Activate Locked to lock the location which makes it unmovable when editing in Map Editor

10a. Add custom display point (use this tool to move your logo or label around in order for it to sit in the centre of the location inside the drawing)

10b. After clicking on custom display point, you are able to move the logo/text within the drawing of the location

11. Save changes

Open the Interactive Kiosk Map to preview the latest changes

1. Open 360 Planner > Digital Signs

2. Select Digital Sign Map tab

3. Click on an Interactive Kiosk Digital Sign (usually starts with 4.2 / the layout needs to say Interactive Kiosk)

4. Open up SignID

5. A new tab will open and you can view the changes in the Interactive Kiosk

HINT: Please remember to always save changes no matter how small AND if other pages are opened in different tabs, you must refresh them for the changes to be seen.

For example, in this article, the user may have Map Editor and Explorer opened in different tabs. When changes to Map Editor have been saved, the Explorer tab needs to be refreshed to see the new changes.
