Explorer - Search Enhancements
In this article, we will show you how to understand the layout of the search feature while viewing and using the Explorer map on your smartphone.
How to configure search enhancements?
The way search enhancements is presented in Explorer, is influenced by the settings you choose to configure inside PAM OS for Interactive Kiosk. Meaning, the the settings you activate for Interactive Kiosk, is the same settings is applied in Explorer.
Please click on the article below for a thorough explanation on working your way around search enhancements and applying changes to it.
How to view Search Enhancements on Explorer
Steps
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs
2. Select DIGITAL SIGN MAP tab
3. Select an Interactive Kiosk Digital Sign. You can also use the search section and the filter feature on the left-hand side.
4. On the right-hand side pop out stay on the GENERAL tab
5. Scroll to the bottom and scan the QR code with your smartphone device
Alternatively, you can also scan the QR Code on the dashboard (home page) for access.
Accessing Quick Link Filters on Explorer
1. Once Explorer has loaded up on your smartphone, you will immediately notice that the Quick Link Filters appear when you are viewing the map on the Explore tab. The Quick Link Filters is also viewable on the Search tab
2. If you were to click on a Quick Link Filter (i.e. Parking), you can see everything related to that icon appear all at once
The default quick link filters are Entrance, Parking and Restroom
3. Click on the more icon to reveal more Quick Link Filter icons. (If you only have three active filters then you will not see the more icon)
4. You can see up to a maximum of 7 quick link icons within Explorer
5. Click on the less icon to return to normal view
6. This is how Quick Link Filters look like as it’s default setting without the more / less button
Why 7 Quick Link icons instead of 8? How do I know which icon won’t be shown?
Since the Interactive Kiosk can show up to 8 Quick Link Filter Icons at any given time, it will result in one less Quick Link Filter icon being shown in Explorer as it can only contain a maximum of 7.
If in the event of having 8 Quick Links activated, Explorer will never take the last Quick Link Filter on the list in Digital Sign Manager. We will show this below
Steps
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs
2. Select the SIGN CONFIGURATION tab
3. Select Interactive Kiosk
4. Select the SEARCH tab
5. Scroll down to the Quick Link Filters section
6. There are currently 8 Quick Link Filters activated. Out of all these filters, Explorer will not show First aid as that is the last one in the list
In this example, if the First aid icon is important to be seen inside Explorer, you can re-adjust the order of the Quick Link Filters in PAM. This will save you from removing and re-uploading filters repeatedly.
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to Settings
2. Click on Map Configuration
3. Click on the Search tab
4. You can use the adjusting tool to reorder the Quick Link filters
5. We will swap First aid and Coffee so First aid can be seen inside Explorer
6. Save changes when done
7. This is the new sequential order of the Quick Link Filters.
8. Coffee is now at the bottom. This means that if all eight filters are activated, Coffee will not be in Explorer
If we go back to Digital Sign Manager, and go into the global configuration settings, we will see the following:
9. Coffee is now at the bottom of the list and with all eight Quick Link Filters activated, the Coffee icon won’t be seen on Explorer.
To verify this change, open up Explorer (make sure the link you are using is associated with the same PAM account) and look at the Quick Link Filters.
10. Select the more icon
11. You can see all 7 Quick Link Filters with the exception being Coffee, confirming the changes were correct.
Clicking on a Featured Location
When you have allocated locations displayed as part of the ‘featured location' section in Explorer, you will notice these locations are typically popular places of interest for visitors at the venue.
We will give an example of what happens when you click on the location. We will click on Sofi Stadium and the image below is what you normally see when you search for a location and click on it to find out more information about it.
Viewing Popular Search History
This feature is useful for finding out your previous searches.
If you click on the results based on what you type in, that then will become part of your search history. This is also the same for when you select a location via Quick Link Filters.
The concept behind this is, is every time you search for a location and click on it, that will be recorded.
When the user goes back into the search section, they can see up to the four most recent searches they have done. This will need to be the same Explorer link in order to generate the same search history.
Clicking on a Quick Link
Having Quick Link Filters will enable all locations that are similar in what they offer to customers, to be shown together in one whole area at the same time.
For this example, we have selected the Parking Icon Quick Link in the photo below and this showed us all Parking areas in the venue that are currently accessible to customers.
Once you have clicked into a Quick Link Filter, you will see the following
Select the back button to return to the search menu
Select this area to drag the list up to show a complete list view instead of a half map / half list view
For this example, since we clicked on the Parking Icon, the list shows all parking lots in the area
Choosing a specific parking lot (i.e. Experience Parking C) will show you where it is on the map and will ask if you would like directions to be taken there
