Routes

In this article, users will learn how to create routes by connecting them to thresholds to enable navigation routes to connect to external locations outside your venue.

Creating routes

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Map Editor

2. Use the Route segment tool in the right-side panel

3. Start drawing your route from the threshold (using threshold will enable navigation route to connect to external locations outside your venue)

4. Keep drawing until you reach the end of the road. Press ‘enter/return’ on your keyboard to end the route

5. Use map properties to set the settings of your route

Important: It is recommended to always end your route at every intersection and start with a new route on the next street. Each road may have different road rules, keep that in mind as having a separate route for each road will give you better control of your navigation route. (i.e pedestrians allowed, one way)

6. Use the Route segment tool in the right-side panel

7. Start drawing a new route from the previous route to connect to a location ‘PAM Station’ (as shown below)

8. Keep drawing until you reach the location. Press ‘enter/return’ on your keyboard to end the route

Important: When drawing a route to a location, make sure to always overlap your route to the inside the location in order to ensure a connected route.

9. Use map properties to set the settings of your route

10. Click Save icon. Once you have successfully created your routes, you are able to test the navigation route in the Interactive Kiosk map

On the Interactive Kiosk map, the navigation route will now be activated when you search for a location outside your venue. This is the benefit of using thresholds when creating routes, you do not need to create more routes manually. Refer to the photo below.

Night-safe routing

The purpose of night-safe routing is to show visitors routes / sections of a route that are CCTV footage supported with ample access to lights for increased visibility and safety during night time.

This is important as routes that are displayed to customers might not always be the safest at night. By being aware that there are portions of the route / an alternate night-safe route is available, this will keep users safe and provide an enhanced experience.

The difference between night-safe routing and normal routing is shown below:

  1. Night-safe routing (Vehicular routes). We can see this with the larger yellow-blue colour. This means that this particular route is night-safe appropriate.

  2. Night-safe routing (Pedestrians). We can see this with the smaller yellow-blue colour. This means that this particular route is night-safe appropriate.

  3. Normal routing (Vehicular routes). We can see this with the larger grey-blue colour. This means this particular route is not night-safe supported.

  4. Normal routing (Pedestrian routes). We can see this with the smaller grey-blue colour. This means this particular route is not night-safe supported.

Activating night-safe routing

To activate night-safe routing, you can edit an existing route inside it’s settings.

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Map Editor.

2. We highly recommend to use the filter tool, to filter everything out except routes.

3. Make sure route segment is activated.

4. Activate [Filter on Map]

The map should change automatically and show all existing routes that you have created so far.

5. We will click on a route we have created

6. Activate night-safe on the right-hand side pop out.

7. Save changes

8. We can now see a yellow / blue colour indicating this particular route is night-safe supported. To remove night-safe, just deactivate the toggle inside the settings.

9. In the Interactive Kiosk map, we can see that users have the option of activating night-safe mode.

10. The colour of the route changes and they are now shown a night-safe route for either part or the entire duration of their journey
