This article will show you how to customize the styles of the following features in eXplorer maps

  • The Start and End location pins

  • Route colours

  • Route thickness

  • Route mode ( Night Safe feature )

Why should we configure the location pin and route styles

Each client can apply custom map styles to suit their brand/environment. Being able to customise the Location pins and route styles is important to help ensure the route is clearly visible, and also helps maintain client branding.

Configuring location pins and route styles

Step 1. Navigate to the correct page

  1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to Settings

  2. Click on the tab Advanced Configuration on the left side panel

  3. Click on the Map Configuration tab

  4. Location pin and route configuration area

 Step 2. Start and Destination colours

  1. Start Pin preview updates to show selection values

    1. Text Colour - this is where you adjust the pin text colour

    2. Background Colour - this is where you adjust the pin background colour

  2. Destination Pin preview updates to show selection values

    1. Text Colour - this is where you adjust the pin text colour

    2. Background Colour - this is where you adjust the pin background colour

Step 3. Route colour

  1. Dark mode route preview - updates to show selection values

    1. Route Colour - this is where you adjust the colour of the route

    2. Baseline Colour - this is where you adjust the baseline colour of the route

  2. Light mode route preview - preview updates to show selection values

    1. Route Colour - this is where you adjust the colour of the route

    2. Baseline Colour - this is where you adjust the baseline colour of the route

Handy Hint: When selecting the underline colour it looks best if you use a similar hue to your route colour. In Dark Mode a darker line is recommended, in Light Mode a lighter line is recommended

Step 4. Route weight

You adjust the thickness of your route from 1px to 10px

  1. Route thickness preview - updates to show thickness values

    1. Route Thicknes - select from the dropdown between 1 and 10px (default 4px)

Step 5. Route properties

This includes Night Safe route feature at present

  1. Enable Night Safe routing - this will toggle night safe routing option on/off

  2. Colour preview - preview updates to show selection values

    1. Dark mode - Baseline Colour - adjust the baseline colour when the route segment id ‘Night Safe’

    2. Light mode - Baseline Colour - adjust the baseline colour when the route segment id ‘Night Safe’
