Explorer is accessible when the user scans a QR code on an Interactive Kiosk using the camera on their smartphone device. This hands off Explorer to their mobile browser in a responsive and adaptive way which enhances the user experience as they now have a version of the Interactive Kiosk map on their smartphone.

Note

The way Explorer is presented is influenced by the settings you configure inside PAM OS.
Any changes that you make to the Interactive Kiosk, this will also be implemented into Explorer.

Accessing Explorer

For customers to access Explorer, they scan the provided QR code upon reaching the venue to gain access.

There are five main icons at the bottom of Explorer where users can click for more information.

1. Search
2. You can also gain access to a QR code in the dashboard page of PAM OS.

1. Notice the QR code on the dashboard page. Scan it with your smartphone to gain access.

2. Select this icon to download the QR code. This allows you to print a physical copy to be printed and be used by your customers.

3. Select this icon to copy the QR code and paste it on another tab in your browser.

Introduction to Explorer

There are five main icons at the bottom of Explorer where users can click for more information.

Directory Tab

Inside this tab contains all tenants that has been created for your location.
To create / edit / remove tenants completely, you need to do it inside PAM.

Introduction to the Directory Layout

  1. This is the location that contains all your tenants

  2. This is the different categories that can be clicked to filter and show specific tenants

  3. These are all the tenants under the filter of “SERVICES” and are found in “Hollywood Park District”

  4. The Explore section contains different locations at the bottom which can be clicked to show different tenants at different locations

  5. In this example, we have clicked on “Hollywood Park District” as indicated on the top of the screen.
    The other location names will be faded out

Customising the Explore section in Directory Layout

Note

Please don’t confuse this with the Explore tab but this part will focus on the Explore section on the bottom when you click in Directory.

By default, if you elect not to upload a photo, the grey background will be applied to the location name as we can see with Retail District.

As a general rule, a location won’t appear in the Explore section until you link a tenant with it AND have enabled it’s settings to appear. This is important as some locations could be linked but hasn’t been enabled to show up in the location.

Welcome Screen Layout

While the screen is loading on your smartphone, you may see a loading circle appear. This can give you a quick indication of how long it takes for Explorer to load. This should not take more than a few seconds.

Note

For uploading a welcome screen, the image needs to be a minimum 480 x 480 px and in PNG format

Explorer allows you to upload an image to help welcome that welcomes users into Explorer.

This is the default image used. You cannot disable this feature as it will use a default uses the default image or your own image.

My Current Location Details

Explorer allows a user to use their current location when needing directions to a destination. A user that has scanned a QR Code from a kiosk might not remain in the same area, and with this feature they can use their own location to find their way to different destinations easier and faster.

If you are still unable to turn on your location, you will need to go into your phone settings and turn on your location manually.

Using current location to reach a destination

Now that the user’s current location pops up, let us search for a location in Explorer to get to.

The recenter button will return you back to the view you were last on.

For example, if you were facing a certain direction when you first generated directions to a location, then the recenter button will return you back to that same direction.

What if I turn off my current location?

When the user’s current location is switched off or if they decide to switch it off while using Explorer, they will see the following in their results:

Note

If a QR code was scanned from the dashboard (PAM OS homepage), it will not show any scanned location / starting location because that specific QR code does not belong to any Interactive Kiosk.

Manually change Scanned Location

The user is advised to keep their location on to prevent Scanned Location from being the default location.
The only other alternative to this is that the user manually selects where they currently are on the map (assuming they know where they are) if they do not want to share their location/unable to share their location.

What happens if I share my location but I’m too far away?

If a user wants to share their location but is far away from the venue / not at the venue then Explorer has been designed to track this and will send a prompt to users, letting them know that a route is not possible to be given because they aren’t there. Even if users have access to a QR code and have scanned it on their smartphone, they will receive a prompt.
