In this article, we will show you how to hide content between your accounts that have a parent / child relationship established between them.
Introduction to Hiding Content
Summary of rules for hiding content
Only child account content can be hidden
Only the parent account can hide child account content
You can hide multiple child accounts
Hiding a child account, will mean both parent and other child accounts won’t see that specific child account’s content on Interactive Kiosk and Explorer maps.
You cannot hide content through the child account
Admin access is required into the parent account to hide child account content
You will not see these settings to hide content if you are not an admin user.
Once hiding child account content is enabled, parent account users will not see:
Child content inside Explorer for that child account
Child content inside Interactive Kiosk for that child account
Child content on Directional signs for that child account
This is a useful feature as you may have content work currently being completed. Activating this feature allows you to hide the child content work from the parent account to ensure only those with access to the child account where the work is being completed can see the changes. This increases confidentiality and lets in-progress work be completed without progress being seen by others.
When the changes are done, simply deactivate the toggle and the parent account will see the new child account changes.
As a refresher, we will explain the difference between parent and child accounts
Example
HPK001 - is our parent account
HPKRetail - is our child account
If HPKRetail needs maintenance work to ensure content remains up-to-date, they can hide their content from HPK001. This will be done by activating the toggle inside HPK001 to hide content.
When those in HPK001 log into PAM and go into the Interactive Kiosk, they will just see what is currently existing and working in the Interactive Kiosk. They will not see any HPKRetail content until the settings have been changed to share with HPK001 again.
How to hide content
Please ensure you are logged onto the parent account
In our example, we will log into HPK001 - parent to hide content from HPKRetail - child
Steps
1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to Settings
2. Click on Client Management
3. The top section should say ‘Client Management’ which shows you are at the right place
4. Description tells you the places where the content will be hidden from the parent account
5. We can see a list of clients that is linked with our account
You may just have one account linked and this is fine. If you don’t have any accounts linked, this page will not appear.
6. Activate the toggle to hide that child account’s content from the parent account
7. Save changes
We will log onto the child account and show what happens when hiding content is enabled
This account we will use is HPKRetail for this example.
8. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Map Editor
9. The disclaimer has appeared, notifying users that HPK001 (Parent account) has hidden HPKRetail content. This provides confirmation to users of HPKRetail that their work is no longer seen by those in HPK001.
10. This means that all features created in Map Editor HPKRetail will not be seen on HPK001 Interactive Kiosk and Explorer. However, these features are still shown inside HPK001 Map Editor, it just won’t be clickable.
We will log into the parent account and check if the child account content appears.
This will be [HPK001] for this example.
