Configuring tenant in Map Editor to show in the kiosk PART 1 [IMPORTANT!]

A tenant needs to be added to a location within Map Editor in order to be displayed within the Tenant Directory section on an Interactive Kiosk.

Please take the time to read this section as you may have trouble in making your tenant appear in the Kiosk.

Think of this section as a perimeter > area > location > stores inside the location

To make the rest of the steps clearer, we will look at a photo first and see how we can establish links.

Steps

1. On the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Map Editor

2. Select a Unit feature type to add a tenant to. You may need to draw an area if you don’t have an existing location to put your tenant in

Only the UNIT FEATURE TYPE lets you add tenants.

3. If you need to draw an area, make sure all the points are connected, as shown on the photo below

Click on the area you just drew or on the existing location and you will see the right-hand side pop out with information to fill in (shown below).

4. The feature type chosen is ROOM and belongs to the UNIT feature type group

5. Insert Dictionary Item (This could be the name of the location that a tenant will occupy. For this example, the location name is “testing” but the tenant occupying is “Wandavision”)

6. Insert Tenant (i.e. Wandavision)

7. If your tenant has a photo, it will be shown here. If no photo was uploaded, go to the next step

8. Label display helps to configure icons, you can choose from either: Icon, Text, Neither or Both Icon & Text

9. Select Children (location) within the location if there are any OR choose to keep blank. By selecting children, you are creating location hierarchy. A Unit feature type can have a Digital Sign or Point as a child.
Learn more about location hierarchy here

10. Override Extrude is used to extrude the height of the location

11. Start Extrude Height is ideally only used for building bridges between 2 buildings. For a tenant, you can untick this

12. Enable Hidden (disabled) if you wish to hide this location from the Navigation Map

13. Enable ‘Locked’ to lock the location, this stops you from moving it around in Map Editor

14. Save changes

Configuring tenant in Map Editor to show in the kiosk PART 2 [IMPORTANT!]

Please take the time to read this section as you may have trouble in making your tenant appear in the Kiosk.

We have added our tenant into a location inside Map Editor. Now we have to link this location to other locations inside the map. For this, we will be following a process known as location hierarchy. Please read more about it here

Steps

We will be continuing our example from PART 1.

1. In Map Editor, select a location with an LEVEL feature type. If none available, please draw it.
We have given you an outline of what we have drawn.

2. Click on the location and you will see the right-hand side pop out

3. We can confirm that the type is LEVEL

4. The dictionary item is THEATRE which is the location. It is recommended to use dictionary items that are unique (i.e. Only used in 1 location)

5. We can put our tenant ‘Wandavision’ as a children for Theatre

6. Save changes

Now Map Editor knows that Wandavision is a tenant that belongs to the Theatre

You may ask, why? Isn’t Wandavision outside of the theatre location? Yes, this is true but since the Level feature type accepts all Unit feature types you can do this to establish a link.

Configuring tenant in Map Editor to show in the kiosk PART 3 [IMPORTANT!]

We have added our tenant into a location and we have added this inside another location. Now we will repeat the same process and add THEATRE (the feature type that was used in Part 2) to another location

We will put the dictionary item Theatre into an AREA feature type.

Steps

1. In Map Editor, select a location with an AREA feature type. If none available, please draw it.
In the example, AREA is given a RED outline. Click on the location when you have it / drawn it

2. We can confirm that the type is AREA

3. The dictionary item is STADIUM PRECINCT which is the name of this location. It is recommended to use dictionary items that are unique. (i.e. Only used in 1 location)

4. Note that THEATRE is a child of STADIUM PRECINCT meaning that they are now linked and everything that is linked to THEATRE will also be linked to this area feature type

5. THEATRE is signified by the YELLOW outline

6. SOFI STADIUM, a fellow child is signified by the GREEN outline

7. Save changes

Configuring tenant in Map Editor to show in the kiosk PART 4 [IMPORTANT!]

Now we need to repeat this process one final time because we are missing one more feature type to add.

We will now add the AREA feature type (the dictionary item Stadium Precinct) from PART 3 to the VENUE feature type group.

Inside the VENUE feature type group you have,

  • Stadium

  • University

  • Retail store

  • Shopping centre

Steps

  1. In Map Editor, select a location with an VENUE feature type. If none available, please draw it.
We have given you an outline of how our VENUE looks like, highlighted in RED. This feature type is usually the largest. Please click on the feature type when done

  2. We can confirm that the type is VENUE because Stadium belongs to the VENUE feature type group

  3. The dictionary item is HOLLYWOOD PARK DISTRICT which is the name of this location. It is recommended to use dictionary items that are unique. (i.e. Only used in 1 location)

  4. Note that STADIUM PRECINCT has been established as a child of HOLLYWOOD PARK DISTRICT meaning that they are now linked and everything that is linked to STADIUM PRECINCT will also be linked to this venue feature type.

  5. Activate Enable as a content source. This will show all your tenants that are linked to this VENUE feature type to appear in the Interactive Kiosk

  6. WANDAVISION might be outside of the venue boundary but since they are linked to THEATRE which is inside the VENUE feature type then they will still be seen in the Kiosk

  7. Theatre is inside the venue boundary and is linked to the feature type

  8. Save changes

This is how we configure tenants in Map Editor to be seen in the Interactive Kiosk.

Summary

Just make sure that all the locations are linked in this hierarchy order.

  • VENUE feature type group > AREA feature type group > LEVEL feature type group > UNIT feature type group.
