How to add a QR Code to Directional Signs

This article will aim to show you how to add and configure a QR code inside directional signs. This provides an additional option for QR codes to be shown in another sign type and not just through the Interactive Kiosk.

When the QR code is scanned, customers will be able to explore and access the entire location on their mobile device.

QR code global configuration settings

The global settings is primarily focused on the text message that is displayed above the QR code.

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs

2. Select the SIGN CONFIGURATION tab

3. Select Directional Sign

4. On the right-hand side, we will focus on the Explorer QR Code heading

5. Call to action: This is a message that is placed on top of the QR code. The purpose of this message is to make the customer scan the QR code with their mobile device. The default message is: Scan for map.
You are able to customise your message if you wish

6. Call to action text colour: This lets you customise the call to action message by changing the text colour. The default colour used is white.

7. Save changes

Activating the QR code in Directional signs

You need to activate the QR code for each sign individually for it to be seen in directional signs.

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs

2. Click on DIGITAL SIGN MAP tab

3. Select a Directional Sign (When clicking on a sign, the layout should say ‘directional’)

4. The right-hand side will pop up with settings to configure the chosen directional sign.
We will go straight to the Explorer QR code handoff section

5. Activate Show on sign to activate the QR code on the directional sign

6. You can see how the QR code looks like along with the Call to Action text message within the preview

7. Save changes

What if the QR code is cropped off?

You may run into a scenario where the QR code is slightly cropped off like the photo below.

To fix this, you will need to remove some of the content in your Location and / or Messaging slots.
This is necessary as adequate space must be given to support the size of the QR code and the Call to action message. If you absolutely require your Location and / or Messaging slot content to remain, you may need to create a new Directional sign in order to slot your QR code in without any cropping issues.

To make space for your QR code, please follow the steps below.

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation menu, go to 360 Planner > Digital Signs

2. Click on DIGITAL SIGN MAP tab

3. Select your Directional Sign that you want to configure. (When clicking on a sign, the layout should say ‘directional’)

4. The right-hand side will pop up with settings to configure the chosen directional sign

5. We can see that the layout is Directional sign which confirms this is the correct sigN

6. Notice how the QR code in the preview is slightly blocked from view because of too much content

7. We will remove some content inside Location slots

8. Click on the 'x' button to remove a specific location from the location slots. You may need to remove more than 1 location to fit the QR code successfully

9. Once some Locations slots have been removed, notice in the preview that the QR code has enough space to be fully visible in the Directional sign.

10. We have kept some Location slot content as it didn’t disrupt the space for the QR code

11. Save changes
