In this article, users will learn how to use Map Properties in Destination Dictionary to override map properties in eXplorer Map.

The information below includes more details on Map Properties, the sections have been divided for your convenience, if needed.


Overview

To access Map Properties

In the PAM navigation menu, go to Dictionary > Destination Dictionary > Select and open a Destination Dictionary Item

Tip: You can search for the name of the Destination Dictionary in the search area on the top left.
This saves time and lets the user find what they need quickly. (Refer to the photo below)

Steps

1. Prominence override controls the size of the text label of your location in the eXplorer Map

2. Available to navigation maps will enable a user to assign the Dictionary Item to a location using Map Editor.

3. Hide from search will disable the location from being searchable in the eXplorer Map

4. Override dark mode colour will enable you to colour the location while in dark mode within eXplorer Map

5. Override light mode colour will enable you to colour the location while in light mode within eXplorer Map

6. Assign Icon / Logo to the Dictionary Item. This enables you to select ‘icon’ as a display option in Map Editor

7. Select a 3D model from the 3D Assets dropdown. This enables you to assign the 3D model in Map Editor

8. Save changes


Apply Map Properties to eXplorer Map

When ‘Available to Navigation Maps’ is enabled, a user can now assign the Dictionary Item to a location using Map Editor

Steps

In the PAM navigation menu, 360 Manager > Map Editor

1. Select the location in Map Editor

2. Set the Type that is suitable to your type of location

3. Apply Dictionary Item for the location

4. To display the icons, choose Label display: Icon only or Both Text and Icon

5. Select Children (location) within the location if there are any. By selecting children, you are creating location hierarchy. Learn more about location hierarchy here

6. Override Extrude is used to extrude the height of the location. Enable Override Extrude and set the height of the location in meters (Note: 3 meters is usually used for a 1 story building)

7. Start Extrude Height is ideally only used for building bridges between 2 buildings (For example, if you set Start Extrude Height as 2 meters, your building will hover 2 meters above the ground)

8. Enable Hidden (disabled) if you wish to hide this location from the eXplorer Map

9. Enable ‘Locked’ to lock the location. This makes the location become unmovable.

10a. Add custom display point (use this tool to control where your logo or label sits within the location)


10b. After clicking on custom display point, you are able to move the logo/text within the drawing of the location without any restriction.

11. Save changes

HINT: Please remember to always save changes no matter how small AND if other pages are opened in different tabs, you must refresh them for the changes to be seen.

For example, in this article, the user may have Destination Dictionary and Map Editor opened in different tabs. When a Destination Dictionary item has been created and saved, the Map Editor tab needs to be refreshed to see the new changes.
