In this article, users will be uploading 3D models and assigning them to dictionary items.

Note

Before proceeding, the user needs to ensure they meet the following file requirements.

  • The final source file we require is a  .glb file  - must be under 1mb in size file

  • Original source file eg: .3ds file. This allows us to convert to glb and manipulate if required.

  • Users can use colour on the model

  • The file should be built to scale. (e.g. If a building 10meters tall in real life should be built 10 meters in 3D software)

Using Sketchup SketchUp to Download 3D Models

  • If users don’t have a 3D model, they can download 3D models from a website called 3D warehouse.

  • Open SketchUp → open 3D warehouse → search and select the 3D Model you want (1MB max) to download.

  • Once downloaded, the user can adjust the size in SketchUp and then export 3D Model as a .glb format

Note: Users can download 3D models from other websites besides 3D warehouse as long as it is exported as a .glb format.

How to upload 3D models

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation bar, go to Library > 3D assets

2. Click on [uploadUPLOAD] on the bottom right

3. Drag files or find the appropriate files on your computer.
Please note the file requirements: Maximum file size 1.0MB and .glb files only

4. Click on the appropriate file

5. Click open Open

Assigning 3D models to Category Dictionary

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation bar, go to Dictionary > Categories

2. Click on [+ Add CategoryADD CATEGORY] > Destination

3. Fill in ‘Identifier’ (e.g. One word to identify all the similar models being uploaded)

4. Fill in ‘Description’ (e.g. The name of what you are uploading)

5. Save changes

Assigning 3D models to Destination Dictionary

Steps

1. In the PAM navigation bar, go to Dictionary > Destination Dictionary

3. Fill in Display Copy. Name of the destination dictionary

4. Fill in Natural Language (TAGS). This helps to make it easy to find or link to locations

5. Select Dictionary Category. Assign destination to the category

6. Unique Destination. If enabled, it allows a user to assign the dictionary item to 1 location only

7. Available to navigation maps. If enabled, this will enable a user to assign the location to a digital sign

8. Hide from search. If enabled, this will disable the location from being searchable in the Interactive Kiosk

9. Input 3D assets (input add in the .glb file)

10. Save changes
